Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has urged Congress to take quick action and join forces with the Mahagathbandhan alliance to defeat the BJP in the upcoming elections. Speaking at the 11th General Convention of CPI-M in Patna, Kumar expressed confidence that if the Congress takes his suggestion and the Mahagathbandhan fights together, the BJP will be reduced to below 100 seats.
This statement followed by the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, praised the efforts of all those who are fighting to save the Constitution of the country. Speaking at the same event, Yadav claimed that regardless of any blemishes, if an individual is associated with BJP, it will be cleansed within the party's 'washing machine'. He also highlighted the current political climate in India, where speaking out against the BJP can lead to raids, character assassination, or even imprisonment while supporting the BJP can be seen as compromising one's moral values.
It is worth noting that Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal-United (JDU) party snapped ties with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and joined forces with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) to form the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance). The move was seen as a major development in the state's political landscape, given Nitish Kumar's history of being a BJP ally.
With the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in 2024, the statements from Nitish Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav are likely to have a significant impact on the political discourse in the country. While the BJP has been focusing on consolidating its voter base and expanding its presence in the states, the opposition parties have been trying to form alliances to counter the ruling party's influence.
The political scenario in India is becoming increasingly polarized, and the role of regional parties and alliances is becoming more critical. It remains to be seen how the different political parties will navigate the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and whether Mahagathbandhan will be able to mount a serious challenge to the BJP's dominance in the country's political landscape.
